The 12v SOLAR GREEN hot water controller connects to any 12v battery bank. It measures the battery voltage level, and if greater than 12.6v it turns on the replacement 300w solar water heater element IF the water temperature is under 40°C and not over 52°C. Our solar hot water heater elements included in the kit have a 1 1/4″ BSP thread for Quick boilers, and are unique in having provision for a temperature probe thus reducing energy consumption.
It will take around 2 hours (600w/50A) to heat a 35litre tank where the cold water temperature is 15°C. A battery bank of at least 300Ah is recommended with 300W of solar panels.
Options:
- Remote status monitor that shows the system status if you cannot see the controller itself
- Solar panel output monitor that makes sure that there is at least 12v coming from the solar array so that the unit does not switch on when there is no solar energy to replenish the batteries. Has a manual over-ride.
