OUR VIEWS
Plug & Play systems are based around micro-inverters. Since each micro-inverter is connected to one or two solar panels, the system is much less vulnerable to shading on a single panel, whereas with a hybrid inverter ALL the panels are connected to a central hybrid inverter and shading to just one panel will result in a sharp loss of overall output. A micro-inverter cannot automatically start a generator either.
The controllers and batteries for micro-inverters are also significantly more expensive than those for a conventional inverter.
Depending on the circumstances, the latest Zendure product – Hyper – represents a major technical advance where it is suitable.
